Snow Removal
During snow events this Winter, we ask for everyone to do their best to remove vehicles from the roadway. We understand this cannot always be accomplished. We take snow removal very serious and try to get out very quickly during any snow events. Stookey Township is very hilly so we get salt on these hills quickly. We assure you that we do our very best to make sure all motorists and especially emergency vehicles are able to get around on all Stookey Township roadways. We are adding more snow removal equipment yearly. We now have 5 dumptrucks, 2 pickup trucks, and a road grader ready to go. The Road Grader is ran all summer by me personally and I plan to use it in the snow, depending on how well it works out.
Importantly, our radio system (St Clair County's Illinois Starcom 21) directly links us to all Fire Departments, Police Departments, Ambulances, etc. We are able to directly talk to these emergency vehicles at any time. Historically, we have communicated with Fire departments and Police Departments during severe thunderstorms and snow events. Stookey employees also monitor this talkgroup quite often when off duty. We will continue this communication. The County's 911 center also has all the employees cell phone numbers for urgent situations. When a different department has an issue, we will be there to assist in any way possible as we have in the past
